iPhone 15 series: Frosted glass, action button, curved edges, and 8 other changes likely in 2023 iPhones

Alot of big claims have been made for the upcoming iPhone 15 series. The 2023 iPhones are said to get major changes in terms of design and hardware as well. It is being said that the iPhone 15 series could come with a no-button design, frosted glass back, USB Type C port, curved edges, action button, bezel-less design, and more. There will also be some internal changes in all the versions. Here is everything we know about the upcoming iPhone 15 series.

Apple is likely to announce four iPhones

You can expect to see four iPhones this year. The company could announce a standard, a Plus, a Pro, and a Pro Max model in September if we go by the past record of Apple. The company previously used to offer a mini version, but it discontinued it as Apple was not witnessing a good sale response for it, as per reports. Last year, the tech giant introduced a new Plus model and targeted a new set of audience.

10 big changes we could see in iPhone 15 series

-If leaks are to be believed, the iPhone 15 will come with Apple's Dynamic Island feature just like the iPhone 15 Pro models. This also means that the device will sport a punch-hole display design. The same is also expected for the iPhone 15 Plus model.

-The iPhone 15 Pro models are said to offer a no-button design. We might get to see the solid-state button design like iPhone 8. This means that there won't be moving buttons and one will feel like they are pressing the buttons – thanks to Apple's Taptic Engine.

-The new ultra-high-end iPhone models are tipped to feature curved edges, thinner bezels, and more.

All the models are said to feature a USB Type-C port instead of Apple's Lightning port because the new European law expects all smartphone companies to offer the same port on all devices to make it easier for consumers to charge their units.

-The leaks suggest that the iPhone 15 and its Plus variant could offer a frosted glass back with a matt finish, similar to what we saw on last year's iPhone 14 Pro models.

- While the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models may not be getting major design upgrades compared to the Pro variants, they are at least getting better cameras, according to the leaks. The regular versions are said to feature 48-megapixel cameras that we have seen on the Pro models of iPhone 14 series. This would be a major upgrade over the 12-megapixel sensors seen on the existing iPhone models. But, don't expect to see a telephoto lens for optical zoom or a LiDAR on the standard models because this will reportedly remain limited to the higher-end models.

-As for the iPhone 15 Pro models, we might get to see a new periscope lens with 5x optical zoom on the upcoming high-end units. The details about the Pro models are currently unknown.

- Apple is also said to be planning to replace the Ring/Silent switch with a common Action button. It is unknown how this will work, but the cited source claims that it could function like the Apple Watch Ultra. Apple will likely offer an option to customize the button and one might be able to assign it various system functions for a more convenient experience.

-The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones are tipped to come with Apple's new Bionic A17 chipset. The standard model could use last year's Bionic A16 SoC, which is powering the iPhone 14 Pro models. It is unknown whether Apple will also launch the new version of the Plus model which it introduced last year. There are reports claiming that the iPhone 14 Plus wasn't a success for the company and it didn't receive a good response in terms of sales.

-The new iPhone 15 series is also expected to arrive with larger battery units compared to its predecessors. It is unknown whether Apple will offer support for faster charging speeds. Currently, the iPhone 14 series has 20W support, which is very low compared to what people get with Android phones. In addition to this, Apple won't likely bundle a charger in the retail box as the company stopped offering it with the launch of the iPhone 12 series.
